Abstract:
Innovation is the need of the hour for an organization to stay ahead in the competition. Innovation is the critical phenomena for an organization to be successful. Innovation is the result of ‘out of the box thinking’ in an organization and is essential in this competitive world for its survival. To beat the competition and to spur the economic growth innovation is an essential phenomenon.

The factors which have a significant influence on innovation are both tangible and intangible in nature. These factors are not linear but multidimensional and complex. The measurement of innovation is also not a straightforward activity as it involves both tangible and intangible factors. The characteristics of various factors which have a significant influence on innovation also vary.

An innovation index capable of measuring and improving the innovation capability of an IT organization is developed and validated through my research.

Since it is the group of factors which are responsible for innovation and the characteristics of these identified factors vary, the interdependency between these factors can also be studied with the help of statistical analysis.
This index can be modified to suit various sectors.
